Treble Cone is the largest ski and snowboard area on the South Island of New Zealand consisting of 550 hectares of land. It is close to the lakeside town of Wanaka and most people who ski treble cone stay in wanaka accommodationas there is nowhere to stay on the mountain itself. Treble cone is said to be the most demading of all the ski resorts in the New Zealand ski field area, however it still has gentle slopes for the beginner as well. Treble Cone is situated 71km from Queenstown and allow approximately an hour and a half driving time.

As of 2010 the road to treble cone is the main access route, however a gondola has been approved to be constructed from the shores of lake wanaka up to the ski field, which, when it happens , will make access to treble cone the easiest of all the New Zealand Ski Fields.

There are many trails to choose from that range in length up to 4 kilometers and some of the slopes require olympic standard ability. Treble Cone is a great place to push yourself and improve your skiing ability. There are plenty of lifts, including a fast six seater and a quad chair.These factors allow Treble Cone to be one of New Zealands most visted snow fields areas.Treble Cone does not have on snow accommodation. The learner's area with snowmaking facilities is located near the base building; the wide, gentle slope has an easy gradient and is groomed every night. This is serviced by an easy-to-use platter lift.
